Kenny Hunt, Class of 2022

Wow, it’s already been a year

by Paige Brightwell, Class of 2023

Wow, it’s already been a year since we have been shut down. So much has changed. A year ago I was getting ready for high school softball to start, and getting ready to start my first real job. I was getting ready to go visit my grandparents at the beach. 2020 was a year that I will NEVER forget, sadly in a bad way. 2020 was the year that God took my grandmother (my best friend) away from me. He decided that she had lived long enough and had made her mark on the world. Sadly my family and I were not ready for her to leave us. Covid 19, did not allow me to go and visit her as much, and I regret it so much. She was afraid of being sick, but towards the end she knew she could not get any sicker. Stage 4 lung and bone cancer took her away from us. Now who will help me go shopping? Who will call me every day and ask how my day was? My summer was changed because of my loss. Friday the 13 of March marks a year since we got shut down. Since we were locked away and afraid of a virus. Since last year, I have grown to appreciate all that I have and try and tell the people I love that I love them, because I never know if that might be the last I Love You.
