Love, Forever

by Jordan Clapp, Class of 2021, Poetry

I love you. I love you so much. I’ve loved you for years and I don’t know if I’ll ever stop. My first love, taking most of my youth, your beauty stretches to infinity. All I want is for you to be in my arms. I want to be able to tell you all of the small things about you that I’ve remembered and how much they mean to me.

But more than anything, I want you to always remember me. I know you’ll never be mine. It hurts, but I know it and I accept it. I just hope that one day I will get to see you happy. So unconditionally happy, whether that be with someone or just yourself. Because not even the gods and their lovers deserve what you do. I want you to remember that I’ve loved you and will continue to love you. No matter how many times I must put my heart back together, I will smile when you break it, because it looks celestial in your hands before you swing the hammer.
